At the beginning of February, Florida is the place to be for stock car racers looking to garner some attention – usually.
Seymour native Ty Majeski made the trip to the left coast in early February and picked up a big win, taking the checkered flag at the Winter Showcase at Kern County Raceway in California.
The $30,000 to win race got a bit of boost with qualifying cancelled due to rain and the rough weather carried into the race as well.
Majeski started four and despite some acceleration issues he managed to move it up to second before the weather caused a brief stoppage.
The crew helped Majeski find a few more horsepower and a big incident caused when the race leader checked up on the restart and while the track was being cleaned up, the weather caused another issue as electrical power went down.
With darkness setting in, organizers set a timer for 60-minutes. When it expired without the return of power, they had no choice but to call the race and Majeski picked up a first place check.
Majeski’s team website http://tymajeskiracing.com is promising more details on his plans for the upcoming racing season soon.
