Mischler second, Janisch 10th at Atlanta Short Track

Beaver Dam’s Morgen Mischler and Dalton Gauthier from Pine Grove PA were consistently the two fastest riders at the American Flat Track Yamaha Atlanta Short Track Presented by Cycle Gear event on Saturday (March 23, 2019).

In the end it was Mischler chasing on his #69 Waters Auto Body Racing, D&D PowerSports, Staci Howell State Farm, RLJ Racing, Bell Helmets, Spectro Oils, RASE, Hebeler KTM, Bromley motorcycles, Evans Coolant, Mr.Sign, Motion Pro, Wiseco Pistons, SuperTrapp, Performance Electronics, Vortex, RK Excel, ODI Grips, Full Specturm Batteries, Steve Fortunato , Robin Mooney, Pete Desantis, John Standiford KTM 450 SX-F and crossing the line just under a second behind Gauthier in the 15-Lap Main Single Cylinder Race.

Jesse Janisch, who dominated the opening event, the Daytona TT, part of Bikeweeks in the racing center wrapped up 10th spot at Atlanta round, finishing about 5.5 seconds off the winning pace on his #132 Roof Systems Dallas TX, Yamaha, Ohlins, WKR, Rekluse, Belray, Bell Helmets, Vortex, Works Connection, Galfer, Matrix, Mika Metals, Evan’s, Lightshoe, Cycle Gear, TDFJ, Vibes Decals Yamaha YZ450F.

There were 56 racers in the opening practice event, ultimately whittled down to the final 16 through qualifying, heats and semis.

Mischler led the charge in the third of four Heat Races, taking the five-Lap event with a half-second to spare on Chad Cose of Fremont, CA while Janisch was in the same Heat, finishing third, about 2/10 of a tick behind Cose. Other Heat Winners included: Gauthier, Dan Bromley from Warrington, PA and Ryan Wells, from Albion N.Y.

Mischler and Janisch went to the line together again in the second of two Semis, Mischler leading the eight-Lap race with almost a second to spare on Tristan Avery from Chesterfield, VA with Wells third and Janisch right behind in fourth 1.2 seconds behind Mischler’ s pace.

The First semi was taken by Gauthier with a little over a half second margin on Bromley.

Gauthier, who finished second to Janisch at the season opener, jumped past the Wisconsin racer into top spot overall in points with 45 while Janisch holds down second spot, 11 points back. Mischler jumped from 14th to fifth with his second place finish.

Riders will get some time to prepare for the next race, the Texas Half-Mile Presented by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys at Texas Motor Speedway on April 20.
