Ray Hofman from Waupun was the lone Wisconsin racer at the opening round of the AMA MotoAmerica 2019 Season, entering both rounds of the Twins Class at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, a 2.54 road course just north of Braselton, near Atlanta on Saturday (April 6, 2019
Hofman started on the sixth row on his #171 RB Racing Suzuki SV650 and wrapped up the race, ranked 11th in a field of 33 bikes about 45 seconds behind race winner Michael Barnes of Boca Raton, FL on a Ducati Monster 797 in the 21-Lap Race.
For Hofman, the weekend started with a Practice run where he posted a best lap time of 1:58.247, about 10-seconds off the best lap pace set by Joseph Blasius of Northville, MI, also on a Suzuki SV650.
Hofman was one of five racers disqualified from the first Qualifying session – all fitted with non-approved equipment but on his second attempt, Hofman shaved a full 15-seconds off his earlier practice time with a best lap time of 1:43.134, about six seconds off the fastest lap, set by Kris Turner of Chattanooga, TN on a Suzuki SV650, the most popular bike in the field.
The field will return for a warm up and second Race on Sunday, beginning at 3:45 p.m Central time.
