Patience did not pay off at Dells Raceway Park as the opening race of the Alive For 5 Super Late Model Series ultimately needed to be rescheduled on Sunday afternoon.
A grey-wet day ultimately though forced postponement of the IceBreaker 100.
Originally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, a promising forecast had everyone holding out hope the weather would clear up about 3 p.m, giving them a four-hour window to make things happen.
Track and series workers along with some volunteers from the various race teams attempted to take advantage of a brief break in the rain, the tow trucks leading the way dragging tires to generate heat and friction to speed up the drying process.
However, the skies opened again about 3:10 and shortly after, organizers announced the event would be rescheduled for April 20.
There was an impressive field of about 30 top notch Super Late Model pilots ready to go green at the opening event and it’s hoped they will all be able to make their way to Wisconsin Dells again to make it happen on April 20.
